The best way to lose weight is by having a balance of strength training, cardio workouts, and maintaining a healthy diet.  However, to lose weight with cardio requires the individual to understand their own body.

According to Austin Lopez, CSCS and owner of Ausome Fit, he explained that “3,500 is the number of calories in a single pound of fat and therefore the number required for you to burn in a week to lose one pound a week.”  It really depends on how much calories you consume daily and having a consistent workout to burn a healthy amount of calories, without depleting  your energy.

Although this may seem difficult, here is a simple breakdown on how to lose weight with cardio each week:

In the Fitoru Cardio Guide, if you do cardio for 7 days a week for 30 minutes, it is recommended that you eat a clean diet with your average calorie intake.  If you decide to work out for 5 days a week for 30 minutes, you should consume a light diet that is calorie-restricted.  If you are a busy bee and can only workout less than 3 days a week for 30 minutes, it is best to have a diet that is calorie-restricted.

Why?  It is because cardio exercise burns calories and you do not want to completely rid of all your calories in your body (calories = energy).  Although the third option to workout for less than 3 days may seem easiest, the first option is more efficient and consistent.

Mahri Relin, a certified personal trainer and founder of Body Conceptions, tell her clients that they should work out four to five sessions of cardio a week, for 30-45 minutes each session.

A celebrity fitness trainer, Katherine Griner, also recommends working out at least 30-45 minutes of cardio per day.

The last important thing to remember is that when you do cardio, do not overstrain yourself, since cardio may get rid of your energy level.  Calories are always burning in cardio workouts, so make sure to give your body enough energy, calories, and nutrients before proceeding!
